9/11 Stair Climb - Roanoke

For the last few years, we've had the absolute honor of photographing the Roanoke 9/11 Stair Climb. The volunteers put together an amazing event that raises money for the families of the fallen firefighters and first responders (National Fallen Firefighters Foundation). This year, the Roanoke event raised over $23,000 and had 276 climbers! It took place at Red Sox Stadium in Salem and we climbed 110 flights, many in full turnout gear and police gear weighing over 40 pounds. It was a sad day with a lot of tears, but also community coming together to remember the lives lost 20 years ago. As each person finished the climb, they rang the bell and read the name of a lost firefighter or first responder to honor them. You could feel the patriotism and love for our country in the air and to say that we are proud to volunteer and raise money for this event is an understatement. Thank you to everyone involved in putting this event on and to everyone that attended and donated!
